Late Winter and Still

again no hard frost

descending as we sleep,

only this light dusting

that melts and lifts

as we stir ourselves

with hot showers and tea.

There really is no winter this year –

a simple refrain

that rocks the mind

on wide and sturdy runners

that bring no ease.
